Background

I am a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience.  During my predoctoral and postdoctoral internship training, I specialized in pediatric psychology. My husband and I have 4 children and live in the New Orleans area.

I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Mississippi receiving a major in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. I received my doctorate in School Psychology from Mississippi State University.

While in graduate school, I was chosen to serve on a multi-disciplinary team that provided infant and toddler assessments for children with developmental disabilities, prematurity and other medically compromising conditions.

My doctoral training included a pediatric psychology internship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. I trained at the Munroe-Meyer Research Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation as well as completing clinical rotations in Behavioral Pediatric Interdisciplinary Clinics, Genetics Outreach Clinic, Pediatric Sleep Clinic, Omaha Children’s Hospital-Infant Assessment and NICU Follow Up clinic, Freemont Pediatric Practice, and a HeadStart program. Part of my predoctoral training included providing infant assessment and follow up to infants/toddlers diagnosed with prematurity, Down’s syndrome and other developmental disabilities. I have extensive experience in providing academic evaluations for the identification and treatment of learning disabilities as well as other academic struggles.

I have devoted much of my practice to working with children with academic struggles including learning disabilities, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Asperger Disorder, anxiety, depression, and adjustment difficulties. I also enjoy providing social skills in group therapy for middle school children. In the past, I have also worked with adults with Traumatic Brain Injury and life adjustments.

After receiving my Ph.D., I worked in private practice in Knoxville, TN for 7 years.  My family and I moved to Metairie, LA in 2008, where I have continued working.  I’m also a mother of four incredible kids ages 9-17.
